This is the first time in seven years that the National Athletics Championships is being held in Ghana and Green Grass Technology is honoured to be the Headline Sponsor of the Championships.

At a time that Ghana Athletics is crying for support from companies operating in Ghana after several years of inactivity (from Corporate Ghana), Green Grass Technology is happy to offer its widow’s mite to the development of Ghana Athletics. Ghana Athletics used to be a real powerhouse in African continental Athletics and it’s a pity that our beloved nation’s Athletics has fallen on hard times and experienced a decline in fortunes. Our support for this year’s National Athletics Championships is our humble signal to the rest of Corporate Ghana that it is about time that we accord other Sporting disciplines the necessary support and thus energise them to achieve more laurels for Ghana.

Green Grass Technology was mandated to construct training pitches at various locations throughout Ghana to be used by countries participating in next years Cup of African Nations to be held in Ghana. Our work in this regard has taken us round the whole of Ghana. On our rounds, we felt challenged by the clear wastage of athletic talent we observed whilst working in the communities. In most areas, we saw several high potential talents who lacked the necessary support and exposure to develop their talent and improve their lot in life.

For global international sporting events such as the Olympic Games, the All Africa Games and the Commonwealth Games, track and field athletics has the potential to win so many medals for the nation and enable Ghana to attain very high placing at these tournaments. Green Grass Technology is convinced that our sponsorship of this year’s National Championships will help the nation unearth more talents to win laurels for Ghana.

For us at Green Grass Technology, our nation’s track and field athletes deserve all the support that Corporate Ghana can give them as they apply themselves to do battle for their motherland. Ghana Athletics must rise again and take its rightful place at the pinnacle of African and World Athletics. This would be greatly enabled by substantial support from Corporate Ghana. As we take the lead today, Green Grass Technology humbly invites other well –meaning companies and corporate citizens of Ghana to chip in and lend their support to the Ghana Athletics Association. Together, we can all make Ghana Athletics a major force to reckon with once again.

• An amount of one hundred and thirty million cedis (¢130,000,000.00).This amount will mainly be used to support the efforts of the Ghana Athletics Association, the National Sports Council and the Ministry of Education, Science & Sports in organising the Championships.

• Part of the sponsorship will also be used to reward deserving athletes at this year’s Championships.

• Green Grass Technology will also present a special award to the overall best male and female athletes at this year’s National Athletics Championships.

The work of the Managing Director of Green Grass Technology, Mr. Frank Boahene, has recently been recognised by being short-listed for a Special Award at the First All African Sports Awards to held in Ghana.
